We want to thank everyone who turned out for the Camp Cleanup and Feast.
It was an enormous success and a lot of good work was accomplished.
NPC Shifts
Dear Avendale Players,
We would like to thank all returning players for their continued attendance through the change in ownership, and we are delighted to see that all of you have confidence in our staff to provide an enjoyable game experience. We also look forward to many new faces during the 2009 season, ready to experience what we have in store.
Unfortunately, though, as many of you have noticed, we have recently been suffering from a crippling lack of NPCs. This prevents us from putting our best effort forward for the players, and forces us to focus our efforts away from things like individual plot and the gritty details of character histories.
In light of this problem, a decision has been made that we think is the least painful solution. Effective starting with the 2009 Season Opener event, held 17-19 April 2009, Avendale will no longer automax players. To receive your maxout, you must either pay coin as appropriate to the rules (1 silver per XP), or you may instead choose to take a 4-hour NPC shift to receive your maxout.
We believe that this will improve the game experience, as it will provide players with an incentive to take an NPC shift, which they may have never considered before, and hopefully give us the ability to put forth our full creative efforts to keep everyone looking forward to the next moment.
If you have any questions or concers about this change in policy please feel free to contact us via email at (owners at avendale dot com).
Welcome to NERO Avendale!
Hear ye hear ye!
Welcome to NERO Avendale. We write, produce, cast, and run interactive theater games better known as NERO LARPs or Live Action Role Playing events. NERO LARP (Live Action Role Play) events allow you to be the HERO, or HEROINE, defeat adversaries and solve mysteries - just like the movies and TV! If you enjoy medieval re-enactment, table-top or computer role play games, cosplay or camping in the great outdoors, then you'll love NERO LARP events.
Your Imagination has Found a Home!
NERO is dedicated to the legendary days of high fantasy, while running a fun (and above all safe) game. In the NERO game, you create a character concept for a fantasy story and actually play the character. It is much like improvisational theater in that you have a framework created by the props and supporting characters and must develop your part as you progress through the storyline.
Your character's attitudes, ambitions, and history are yours to define. If the adventurous life is your calling, you may play the part of a wanderer, meeting with some friends in the tavern. While swapping tales, your party could get hired by a poor farmer in desperate straits, and spend the afternoon slaying a foul necromancer and his undead abominations.
If the epic life is not your style, then you can play the part of a town merchant. You can make your money selling your wares-and information-for the right price. Or perhaps you wish to be one who investigates the magical arts, selling your scrolls and potions to earn the money you need to continue your studies. Or would you rather try and become leader of the Mages' Guild?
The Choice is Yours!
Please be sure to give us feedback. Good and bad, we want to hear from all of you to build a better, more enjoyable game in the future. Please let us know what we can do to make NERO more fun for you.
Content features include:
- A Gallery where we house pictures taken at our events
- Players section for new and returning folks chock full of info and docs
- And More!
Our Letter to the NERO Community
It is with great excitement that we, Alan and Christopher Lowell, more familiarly known to those in the community as Necro Chef and Abdel, announce that we are the new owners of the Avendale chapter and its campaign.
We realize that entering as new owners in the middle of an existing and very complex story will be an immense undertaking, and we are taking all the steps necessary to ensure consistency and continuity in ongoing affairs. Furthermore, we hope to bring new skills and ideas to the Avendale game in a way that will not simply amaze and impress, but involve and invest characters and their players more deeply into the game.
We will strive for every event to top the one that came before it. As this is, at its heart, a form of entertainment for the players, we will look to our player base for ideas and inspiration, and from them we will learn how we can take the game in the direction that will enable us to best satisfy our players and provide a rewarding, fun, and novel experience for everyone involved.
We hope to see plenty of familiar faces and many new ones at our first event as new owners. We are holding a special four-day weekend event over the Columbus Day weekend, Friday through Monday, 10-13 October 2008, at Camp Cedarcrest in Orange, CT. (The Avendale website will be updated soon with event information and pre-registration details.) This will in all likelihood be the final weekend event of the Avendale 2008 season, though we are currently looking into locations for running modules and one-day events until weekend events start back up in the spring of 2009. Still, don't skip the season closer, or you will have to listen through the winter to all your friends telling you what a spectacle you missed out on!
Looking forward to seeing you all in October!
We rift in 1, we rift in 2, we rift in 3,
Alan & Christopher Lowell

We would like to hear from you.
We would like to have your character history:
Whether you are a seasoned adventurer or just getting started please send us some background on your character.
Your character history should include information on your character's past. Their past, their family, all of the things that make your character who they are. Remember not to get too crazy, and we really like it when Character histories tie into the Avendale history.
If you are a new player, remember that you're starting the game as a new character with low experience and build, so a character history where you were a great warrior, or a powerful wizard, might be difficult to back up in the game with only low-level skills, however detailed character histories will get more attention than bland ones.
--------------------
NERO Character History should include;
Character Name:
Player Name:
Character Race:
Character Class:
Local to Avendale: Y/N?
Character Goals:
Fears:
Brief History:
Craftsman Skills
--------------------
